Several yards of silk were dyed in multiple dye baths to produce the foundation for this series inspired by the tall grass prairie in late summer. The shapes of the goldenrod galls stand out as the prairie prepares for winter. Here, the gal were created by painting with discharge paste--the hand of the artist choosing what to enchance and what to subdue.
