Hand dyed silk is layered with hand painted raw silk, quilted, and then the dark silk underlayer is revealed through slices in the top layer. These newly exposed edges were frayed in an attempt to express sadness at the current state of our planet.
Rectangles of tucked and hand dyed silk lay on top of the slits. A small patch of green, created with a digital photo print and angelina fibers, provides a focal point of hope.
